Jewellery Care Rituals

At Liz Crow London, prioritizing self-care extends to caring for our jewellery as well. Here are some tips to maintain the top condition of your piece and effectively care for your jewellery.

Gold Vermeil

Gold vermeil is a traditional technique of plating sterling silver with gold that originated in France in the 18th century. We use a heavy thickness of plating for all our pieces, 5 micron for rings and 3 micron for everything else. It is, however, a layer of gold, which will over time come off. Proper care of the items will ensure the plating lasts as long as possible. Tarnishing of vermeil is natural and should be expected to occur. Vermeil jewellery should be removed prior to bathing, showering, washing hands, swimming, exercising, and applying perfume, hairspray, or lotion, as exposure to moisture or chemicals may cause tarnishing to occur faster. We offer a rejuvenation service for £45, please contact hello@lizcrowlondon.com for details.
